Position Description:
KT Engineering has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Propulsion to support a fast-paced launch vehicle ground and flight test program. Candidate will support the design, integration, and testing of a modular turbo-pump assembly. Candidate will support the development of CAD models and production blueprints for turbo-pump and test support hardware. Candidate will support the development of analytical models to predict pump performance over a broad range of ground and flight test conditions. Candidate will support component, subsystem, and system level testing of the turbo-pump assembly to validate design and operating assumptions. Candidate will be responsible for ensuring project designs meet technical, schedule, and budget parameters and are readily producible.
Candidate will be working as a member of a multi-contractor, multi-government agency team and may be required to provide work leadership for other team members. As such, candidate is required to have effective (oral and written) communication and interpersonal skills. The position requires a highly motivated, goal-oriented individual who is interested in “hands-on” development and testing. Limited travel will be required.
Required qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Detailed knowledge and a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in rocket propulsion system and turbo-pump design, analysis, and testing.
- Demonstrated ability to manage/complete projects on schedule and within budget, while also meeting project technical requirements.
- Strong professional/technical writing, oral presentation and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite: Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proven attention to detail and accuracy are critical to the position.
- Demonstrated effectiveness at working with the customer to quickly resolve issues.
Preferred qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in the following software packages:
- ProE CAD modeling/drawing production
- Windchill
- CEA
- GFSSP
- LABVIEW
- WinPlot
