Position Description:
KT Engineering has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Ground Systems to support the development of ground support equipment, special test equipment, and tooling, as well as facility mechanical, fluid, and pneumatic systems.
Candidate will prepare preliminary and detailed designs using ProE CREO CAD modeling software and Windchill PDM software. Candidate will create models/ blueprints and support fabrication and delivery of hardware. Candidate will support analysis and validation of mechanical system designs. Candidate will facilitate the identification and procurement of components (e.g. valves, actuators, tanks, etc.). Candidate will support the delivery, inspection, and testing of mechanical systems to verify compliance with engineering requirements. Candidate will be responsible for ensuring project designs meet technical, schedule, and budget parameters and are readily producible.
Candidate will be working as a member of a multi-contractor, multi-government agency team and may be required to provide work leadership for other team members. As such, they are required to have effective (oral and written) communication and interpersonal skills. The position requires a highly motivated, goal-oriented individual who is interested in “hands-on” development and testing. Limited travel will be required.
Required qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Detailed knowledge and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design of tooling, ground support equipment, and/or special test equipment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in ProE CREO CAD and Windchill PDM software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the detailed design of mechanical components, including drawing preparation and the application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
- Demonstrated ability to manage/complete projects on schedule and within budget while also meeting project technical requirements.
- Strong professional/technical writing, oral presentation and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite: Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proven attention to detail and accuracy are critical to the position.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with customers to quickly resolve issues.
Preferred qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in structural design of ground support and handling equipment in compliance with OSHA and industrial safety requirements.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Solidworks and SolidCAM software.
- Demonstrated experience in component selection for pressurized systems.
- Demonstrated experience in failure modes and effects analysis.
US citizenship is mandatory. All applicants must have or be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
